May 14-16, 2007 - Governor Tom Ridge, a consultant to Deloitte, delivered the keynote speech at the third annual U.S. public sector conference held in Orlando, Florida. Other distinguished guest speakers included Dr. Sally Ride, Secretary William Cohen, Lt. General Harry Raduege, and Dr. Mark McClellan.
“Governor Ridge did an extraordinary job of sharing his insights and experiences concerning improvements to state government management and performance,” said Robert N. Campbell III, vice chairman of Deloitte & Touche USA LLP and national managing director of its U.S. Public Sector practice. “As a valuable leader, Tom Ridge plays a significant role in supporting our large and growing state government practice.”
The event provided more than 400 public sector partners, directors, and senior managers an opportunity to share information about services and solutions, network with one another and to celebrate the extraordinary accomplishments and results in the federal and state sectors.
In addition to guest speakers, the conference included a trade show demonstrating different public sector solutions and initiatives, and an appearance by leading media analysts Paul Begala and Robert Novak, former co-hosts of CNN's political debate program "Crossfire." The pair discussed positioning for the 2008 elections and debated which candidates have the best chances for success.
The third annual conference, which focused on the big issues facing the country and Deloitte’s federal and state clients, was themed Becoming the Standard of Excellence – Achieving Our Public Sector Vision. "That theme reflects our practices' commitment to delivering superior client service and to become the standard of excellence," said Campbell.
